The Champion USB 2.0 is an external DVD-Writer intended to be used with computers that do not feature built-in drives, such as netbooks and most ultra-portable laptops. It is slim and looks good too, except for the annoyingly large white logo sticker on an all black rubberized shell. You can easily remove the sticker without damaging the surface, though. The drive easily slips into a handbag alongside a netbook. Since it is powered by a USB port, all you need to carry with it is the bundled USB cord. For testing the read speed, we used a real-world scenario of copying a single file and then multiple files. In the 2GB single file tests, the read speed was 4.72 MB/s. So the performance of the drive is average. Overall, it's a good add-on to have if you own a netbook.
